What can I do for you?

User testing

Remote, in person, asynchronous, everything. I'll even write up the questions for you, record the session, and annotate it afterwards while analyzing the data for a nifty little report, complete with recommendations and next steps. I'm pretty quick with this, too.

Content strategy

I've been on multiple content strategy projects that tie together branding, design, social media, style guides, content, and information architecture. As with everything, I take a research-centric approach to make sure we're all on the same page, and then follow up with multiple rounds of experiments to make sure our creation has the impact we always dreamed of!

Wireframes

You may find me brainstorming sketches with the team and quickly digitizing them to review (for budget, feasibility, and scope purposes), and then turn them into clickable prototypes ready for user testing or client presentations. I even have the "don't worry, this isn't the final design" spiel nailed down.

Journey mapping

As long as you let me work directly with the client to ask questions, we can create customer journey maps off of personas and other information about the users. This is a great exercise to fix any weak points in user interactions, like how they first hear about your site, or how to get returning visitors.

Comparative testing

Whether you have one, two, three, or sixteen versions of something you want to compare, I can help you narrow it down to the best few ideas if experiments and A/B tests aren't an option. I'll help you test anything, whether you want to ask a bunch of people which they like best and why, or if you want more directed feedback from your target audience.

Information architecture

Sitemaps, restructuring navigation, moving around sections or modules, you get the idea. I can make the important things stand out and give recommendations for what needs to go.

Competitive Analysis

How do you stack up to your competitors? What are you doing better than them, and where are they attracting customers? Collect competitive intelligence to pinpoint what to change about your digital experiences.

Analytics reviews

Let's leverage Google Analytics to find out what's working and what isn't. Along with Google Analytics, you may consider other tools such as Crazyegg, Hotjar, and Omniture to make good use of those clickmaps and scrollmaps, too.

Accessibility

I have done manual (and automatic) testing for accessibility on numerous websites. I've used a variety of tools to test for 508 compliance (the US standard) and WCAG (the international standard) to make sites accessible for disables users, which usually makes websites easier for everyone. Not only can I test for accessibility, I can even explain to your developers how to fix it!

Personas

Who are the main users of your site? With just enough information, personas can simulate a typical (or atypical) user for your site. Paired with some use cases for what they would do, recommendations are developed on how users could more easily do what you want them to do.

Ideation & brainstorming

Have you ever been in a situation where your stakeholders are experts, and you really need them to come up with the big idea (with some guidance)? Look no further! I can help you lead an ideation workshop to get those good ideas out in the open for everyone to talk about, and push past that "I'm not sure what I want" phase.
